A bit about the UK's favourite juice and smoothie bar
The Boost Juice Story
Back in 2000, a woman with no business experience - but unlimited passion and family support - opened her first juice bar in Adelaide, Australia.
The idea was brilliantly simple: make healthy living both tasty and fun.
That woman was Australian adventurer and entrepreneur Janine Allis. And the bar was Boost Juice - now one of our most popular and loved juice and smoothie brands, with 500 stores in 13 countries... and counting.
On a trip to the United States back in 1999, something caught Janine's attention. Everyone was into healthy smoothies and fresh juices - while in Australia, the fast food market was uninspiring and unhealthy. So once back home in Melbourne, Janine and husband Jeff developed a retail concept different to anything the world had seen. Based on Janine's 'love life' philosophy, Boost Juice would offer a unique customer experience around happy, healthy living.
Today, the world can’t get enough of Boost Juice. The brand’s winning combination of fresh fruit, blended and squeezed into delicious smoothies and juices, has been a remarkable success story.
“The vision was simple: every customer will leave a Boost Juice store feeling just that little bit better.”
Boost UK from the beginning.
The idea of bringing this much-loved Aussie brand to U.K soil started when Dawn & Richard’s daughter had a gap year in Australia… she mentioned to her dad that Boost Juice Bars would be a fab thing to bring over to the UK, and what do you know… they did (after spending an intensive period working in a Boost Juice Bar in Aussie to find out what it was all about). Launched in the UK at the Trafford Centre, Manchester in April 2007 by Richard and Dawn O’Sullivan along with Mario Budwig (the founding team behind Millies Cookies) it now has over 29 stores (and counting) in 24 locations.
Chief Executive Richard O’Sullivan explains “having launched Boost UK shortly before the economic slowdown in 2008 we’ve successfully grown the business over the last 10 years with brand awareness and consumer preference being driven by out fantastic products at our flagship stores in shopping centres like Trafford, both Westfields in London, Meadowhall in Sheffield and Bristol Cribbs Causeway”
"We have a wealth of experience of creating best in class food and beverage retail brands and operating out of 200 to 300 square foot shops. With nearly 300 stores in over 20 countries Boost is the largest and most successful chain of Juice and Smoothie bars in the Southern Hemisphere. Our aim is to ensure we have a Boost Juice Bar in every significant retail and transit centre in the UK"
Having founded Millies Cookies in 1985 the team grew the chain to over 100 company owned stores and 60 Baskin Robbins Ice Cream parlours in the UK, before selling the business to the Compass Group in 2003.
“Boost has a can-do attitude. We don’t believe in the word ‘try’ because that means I’ll give myself permission not to succeed. You don’t try, you just do it.”
– Janine Allis

A love for life infuses everything we do
“Boost has a can-do attitude. We don’t believe in the word ‘try’ because that means I’ll give myself permission to not succeed. You don’t try. You just do it.”
It’s a philosophy that has taken us far. Bringing one of Australia’s most well-loved brands over to the UK was never going to be easy. But thanks to a positive outlook, hard work and the help of extraordinary people, Boost Juice UK has just celebrated the opening of its 30th store.
Boost Juice has come a long way from its humble beginnings. But one thing hasn’t changed – our commitment to health, fun and loving life. If we can help people eat more fruit and veg by making them taste great, that’s fantastic. But we’re not just here to give customers great tasting smoothies and juices. We also want to share our energy, passion and ‘love life’ ethos through an inspirational in-store experience.
Loving life is our mantra. It infuses everything we do. And as we continue to innovate and grow, we do so not to change the world, but to make our customers feel just that little bit better.
