Yummy tricks to the perfect kids smoothie

“MUMMMM can we have a snack?!”

Why not get the kids creative in the kitchen and make some delicious and refreshing smoothies, an ideal choice in our world of quick and unhealthy snack solutions.

Sometimes a smoothie is a good way to sneak in a few extra nutrients into their diet too.

Kids are always more likely to eat something healthy if they have helped to prepare it, and that it is fun!

One of the keys to getting kids interested in making smoothies is making the whole process exciting and fun and keep the recipes simple.

See below some of our favourite kids smoothie recipes that little Boosties can’t seem to get enough of!

 

BREKKIE TO GO GO – Smoothies can also be a great alternative to sugary cereals for breakfast too

Ingredients

 fresh banana

cup oats

portion honey

milk or (soy/alternative)

 vanilla yoghurt

scoop of ice 

Instructions

  1. Measure out the ingredients
  2. Chop up the banana, and put into the blender
  3. Add the milk, vanilla yogurt, muesli, honey, and ice and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth

ALL BERRY BANG

Top tip- We use blackcurrants but why not go pick some wild blackberries as they come into season and use them as a great alternative. This also creates a great talking point of where our ingredients come from.

skimmed milk or milk alternative

strawberry

blackcurrant

 raspberries

strawberry yogurt

scoop of ice 

Instructions

  1. Measure out the ingredients
  2. Chop up the strawberries, and put into the blender along with the raspberries and blueberries
  3. Add the apple juice, strawberry yogurt, and ice and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth

TROPICAL STORM

fresh banana

tropical juice

skimmed milk or milk alternative

coconut milk

 mango

mango or natural yogurt

scoop of ice (50g)

Instructions

  1. Measure out the ingredients
  2. Chop up the mango into chunks or slices, along with the banana, and put into the blender
  3. Add the coconut milk, tropical juice, mango yogurt, and ice and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth
